More than just a Pet Crematorium - Pet Bereavement Support
We’re a small individual pet crematorium in beautiful south west Wales and it’s our mission to provide the most special and personalised farewell for your beloved pet. This means everything to us, and it’s not all we’re setting out to do.
We believe pet loss can be misunderstood and we want to shout from the rooftops that pets are family, they are important and losing a pet can have just as much impact as any other loss in our lives.
I am a qualified counsellor/therapist and I have a special interest in pet loss. My dissertation for my honours degree was ‘how do counsellors perceive and respond to grief related to pet loss’. (I knew if I had to write 8,000 words… It had to be a passionate 8,000!)
It’s important to be part of changing how pet loss is understood and research helps shape and change the future so I like to think I’ve done my very tiny bit! It’s being published in the University library so fingers crossed it will inspire future counsellors.
During my counselling degree and whilst carrying out families' wishes for their pets at Fleur Fauna I realised how supportive counselling for pet bereavement can be, and how under utilised it is. Because of this Fleur Fauna stands alone offering a complimentary counselling session to help navigate grief.
Support through counselling is widely recognised for other forms of loss but pet bereavement currently needs more recognition. By offering these sessions, we hope to support our families who visit Fleur Fauna Pet Crematorium beyond the farewell.
Helping families through Fleur Fauna Pet Crematiorium has helped me so much in navigating my own grief and has given me a real purpose. That purpose being to help others, and to truly understand how grief feels so we can provide the best support.
We run a dedicated pet bereavement page where you can share your thoughts and photos, talk to others and be part of a supportive community. This is one way to stay connected and of course we are always just a message or phone call away if you wish to chat.
It is also our mission to give back, we want to be able to support local animal charities and will be working alongside them as we grow so thank you for your continued support.
We hope no one ever has to feel alone in their grief.
